It's funny how things work out ...
My sister's wedding - if you can call it that, considering it wasn't much more than a ten minute ceremony - went fine. There were plenty of things to be bothered by, but my family and I left with the hope that God will use this to continue to work in her heart.
So I go home for a Friday evening wedding, right? WRONG! We're all getting ready to go, my mom's about to get all made up by some friends who are with Mary Kay, and someone happens to take a glance at the wedding invitation. The wedding was Saturday! After I finished being upset about not getting everything done at church because I had to get to Aiken on Friday and then wondering how my mom could have possibly mixed up the date, I found that it wasn't such a bad thing that the wedding was a day later or that I was a day earlier than I needed to be (depending on how you look at it). Turns out that I ended up getting some major maintenance - timing belt, water pump, distributor cap - on my Honda at a private shop in town for around $150 less than it would've cost me to get the same work done at a dealership. Thank God for that one, 'cause I thought I was going to drain my bank accounts dry to pay for it all. Nope.
Through a series of unexpected events, I also ended up with a new suit that fits me perfectly (hard to find), three new expensive shirts, and two ties. The shirts and ties were really, really nice, but on sale, thus affordable. The suit I got at a second-hand place. Overall, about $700-800 worth of clothes for $120ish. Another happy outcome of my mom's mixup.
It's funny how things work out, especially the things we begin not appreciating.
