I just finished reading this book by C. S. Lewis. The last two chapers really ministered to me.

In Sunday School this past Sunday, someone said that they are the type of person who makes decisions by the seat of their pants, on a gut feeling, and that they didn't know many who really, really thought stuff out. I was quick to interject that I was one of those people who thinks too much, so much so that I can talk myself out of the right thing to do.

Well, I think that God got to Lewis through his mind, through his critical intellect. We might be able to characterize Lewis as a "navel gazer." However, the last part of his book describing his conversion to belief in God gave encouragement to me. Granted, the Lord has already taken hold of me, but I still have similar trouble.

I wrote this in my journal. They are thoughts precipitated by the end of the book.

"Even for the over-analyzer, the one who thinks too much, the only true course of thought, the only one that sheds all nonsense, is the one that leads to God definitively saying, "I AM." And once upon that road, such a mental person finds no other option but to act, for the truth cannot be merely known. To remain only knowing the truth is to betray that which you have so desperately sought for and found."

Enjoyed the good read and insight. A book I might look into. Reminded me of the book Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan. Also a book on conversion and God's election.
