Yo people! Has it ever crossed your mind that if you quit learning, you might very well get stupid? Had a conversation with Noelle, a friend from my days at Erskine, about how I feel like I can't memorize anymore. (I think that's where the conversation started.) Somehow it got around to me realizing that since the exhausting exercise of college, especially my senior year - during which I claim that Music History fried my brain - I have stopped actively learning. Sure, I read a bit, and I explore different musics a bit, but I don't have a mind towards actually learning anymore. Noelle was talking about people getting mental diseases/disorders when they get older because they stopped using their mind at some point and it just sort of, atrophied (for lack of a better word).
I don't want to get stupid ... (er), and I most definitely would prefer not to go out of my mind when I'm older. Eccentricity brings enough challenges of it's own, for crying out loud!

Call me crazy, but you might not be learning as much because you are no longer in an enviroment where all you do is learn...like a school...
And I seriously doubt that you'll ever stop having a hunger to learn - and that's a good thing! =) Don't worry friend...you won't get stupid.
heh.... the MND lines ought to stave off senility a while longer. ;)
i find teaching to be a massively mental exercise, but i tend to default to lecture/discussion/left-brained stuff if i don't take time to be creative with my planning.
getting involved in activities you enjoy that require mental work -- like acting -- seems like a great idea. ... An excuse to enjoy life more fully with the nice benefit of an active & happy brain.
=)
