Recently picked up an album by a friend of mine who graduated Anderson College with a music major, got married, and moved to Florida. Collin Derrick - The Consumer's Gospel. The album is really well done for being an in-house job. The tracks are all quite different while Collin maintains a solid grasp on his own personal style throughout. After listening with my roommate the other night, we agree on there being Coldplay and Deathcab influences. There's also jazz and orchestral stuff. The guitar, piano, and percussion work are especially good. (What esle would you expect of a music major?) Much respect for this album.
If you're into indie bands and are looking for something pleasantly off the beaten path, check this out. You can order the album for $10 (+ shipping, I guess) from the guys. If you get the album, please get it direct from the guys who's contact info is on Collin's Myspace. Show some love for the starving musician. The site also has a couple songs to listen to/download from the album.
